“An apple a day keeps the doctor away. “

It is a very well-known health rule. I love apple and always have it on my table and in my backpack.

How can I preserve my organic apple from my garden? I make apple cider vinegar.

I use my apple cider as a Vitamin C supplement. Every morning after waking up, I make a juice out of it, two tablespoon apple cider to 125 ml water. I also use it as facial cleanser (1 tbsp for 100 ml water). Apple cider is an astringent, which can function as a toner when applied to the skin. It can cleanse and can tighten the skin to help protect it from bacteria and other impurities.

Patience is needed to make your own apple cider from preparation to ripening of this vinegar it will take approximately four to six weeks. I find it very interesting to observe how the fermentation process goes. I have fun making it and it is worth an effort.

Short Information:

Preparation and Ripening Time: 4-6 Weeks
Preparation Level: Simple
Highlight: Vinegar is high in Vitamin C, Antiviral, and Antibacterial.

One recipe will make approx. one Liter vinegar.

You will need the following:

1 kg Apple
2 tbsp Sugar
Water just enough to cover your apple
Container with big opening
Clean cloth for covering and straining
Wooden laddle for stirring
Vinegar bottles for refilling

Procedure

Clean and sterilize your container. Wash and slice your apples and remove seeds. Slice them into cubes (ca. 2 cm). Put your apple into the container. Add sugar and water just enough to cover the sliced apples. Cover your container with a clean cloth and tighten it with a rubber band and set aside in warm place approximately 23 Grad.

You need to stir the mixture everyday. Each day you will see how the mixture changes, After seven days, filter the mixture with a clean cloth in another sterilized container.

Let this clear mixture set again for 4 to 6 weeks. After this time you can see a jelly type substance covering the top of your vinegar. It is called Mother of Vinegar. You can store and use it as ingredients to your next homemade apple cider making. This can shorten the process to half of the ripening time.

Fill your apple cider into your sterilized vinegar bottles. You can store this vinegar for some years.
